Hey guys, assalamualaikum,
I just wanted to give a huge, if not GIGANTIC, if not TREMENDOUS, if not STUPENDOUS ... (??) thanks to my buddies that helped out at the wedding. that read this blog (which i'd say about half of you guys do so don't try and deny it). That did KILLER decorations mashaAllah for both the mehndi and at the wedding, and that worked so hard it hurt me to see you guys like that. May Allah swt bless you 50 times over for all your hard work and sincere intentions. :) AMEN. Too bad Tina caught the bouquet. DOH.
So like.... i'm sitting at work right now incapable of doing anything but put my head down and think about the wedding, or sit up as my eyes glaze over and my head is tilted to a point where gravity is at it's peak potential, or just sit here with my eyes half open and my mouth wide open, OR... write about the delirium that is currently me.
The wedding program wasn't that great, I'll be the first to admit it. (That's cuz if anyone else says it I'll probably knock you out.. heheh no jk). The mic volume was so low you couldn't hear a thing when we were speaking, you had to basically talk RIGHT into the darn thing and make it ur spittoon or something and when asked to turn it up, the hotel turned it up only slightly and you still couldn't hear properly from the back of the room. That, in my opinion, is an organizer's worst nightmare, and well, yeah, that pretty much came true. Anyhow, I think the audience was bored out of their minds, the groom came late, the dinner wasn't the same that she had picked out (the potatoes were absolutely amazing though I must say.. mmmm), and yeah, did I mention I believe the audience was bored out of their minds?
hahaha
Regardless, I had a good time just seeing everyone alhamdullilah. Plus, Bilal Bhai (the groom) gave me money at the end even though I didn't argue for it. What usually happens is that all the sisters from the girl's side threaten the groom to empty out all his pockets o' cash otherwise he can't take the bride. I didn't even know it was going on, I was too busy stuffing my face with pistachio cheesecake thingamijiggy and chilling with good company, when suddenly I looked up and noticed the swarm huddled around the couple. I raised my neck, looked left, looked right... and went straight for the kill. MUAHAHA. It was awesome though cuz apparently they were negotiating deals for quite some time already that all I did was sit down there and he said, "Here Shaheen, you take it." haha such a moocher I am.
I told him to take it back and he was like no... well ok, then I was like hell no, I'll give it to qamer instead.
The mehndi on the other hand was fantastic alhamdullilah. Just to let you guys know that helped out, qamer was so extremely happy afterwards and she kept on saying stuff like she had the BEST time of her life, and would continue to giggle every ten minutes. hahaha. SO that's payoff I guess. I managed to get two pieces of glass stuck in my foot that night though hahaha. At first I thought it was just one, but after having qamer, aunty nighat, and zia try to get the first one out, (one person with a flashlight, one with a needle, and one directing) I walked to my car only to realize the other foot had one too. I swear, glass choorian should be banned.
Anyways, I'm a lil' tired and man, subhanALlah, I really am at work so this is terrible, *drool*, I'll catch up with blogworld later. Oh, but again, I just wanted to say thanks to you guys that helped out. Sadiya and Sabiha man, I don't know how you kept going the way you did. Like seriously. Especially last night?? When you said you'd take them down and fix the room, I think I was looking at you like you were aliens. hahhahaha. aww. SO thanks guys, sadiya, sabiha, saira, nil, nusraat (I forever have an image of the leaf imprinted in my brain), you guys have my heart. lolloo.
wassalam.
I think I"m gonna be fired.
